  1. Very Impressive
It’s rare an oil actually makes a noticeable difference but this oil did fast. I was a dedicated pennzoil ultra platinum user until I saw some independent tests and the valvoline tests for this oil and it’s cleaning power. It’s rare a company actually makes me believe their marketing claims but valvoline really proved their stuff here. I immediately bought some for my next oil change and in less than a thousand miles I noticed the engine seemed to sound smoother and cleaner if that makes sense. The feel of the engine also seemed to get smoother. I’m very impressed and about to do my second oil change with this oil. Will be putting this in all of my vehicles from now on.

  2. Crazy cleaning power
After 2825 miles of mostly highway driving this oil has removed almost all the varnish on my engine.
I adjusted my valves around a month ago and after removing the valve cover I wasn’t happy with what I saw. Being fair I didn’t have any sludge but everything was very brown.
After like two weeks I start hearing the valves ticking so today I reopen to readjust today. They were a little bit loose but the crazy thing was how clean was everything compared to before.
The first time I open, I didn’t take any photos because honestly I wasn’t happy with what I saw and that was the reason I tried this restore and protect.
Before I was using pennzoil ultra platinum high mileage.
I have a 2006 honda crv with over 200k on the clock and I have to admit that I’m impressed with this oil.

  3. Good quality for the price. Recommend.
Valvoline has been making quality lubricants for decades. Always reliable and honestly priced.

  4. It definitely cleans the carbon out of dirty engines
I put the restore and protect in two cars, which both have had their oil changed every 5,000 miles. A low mileage Toyota RAV4 and a Honda crv, which has around 122,000 miles on it. The Toyota’s oil is still quite clean. I changed the Honda’s oil at 60% oil life (remaining) yesterday because it was darker than at 5% (remaining) on other synthetic. 😳
If you have an older car, it probably would be a good idea to keep an eye on the oil and change it earlier than normal because this oil will clean the carbon out of the engine.

  5. The ONLY motor oil that will ACTIVELY clean your engine!
So I’ve been a member of bobistheoilguy for many years and I’ve always been on the hunt for an oil that will clean existing deposits. Until now that’s been in the form of flushes which can risk cleaning too quickly and too much causing more issues than they are solving. The only exception would be BG EPR which is excellent for a stand alone cleaner.
So after following the forums I started to hear about a tribologist by the name of Lake Speed jr. He has a storied background and worked at Joe Gibbs Driven oil for quite a few years. He goes by “the oil geek” on YouTube. Anyways his oil knowledge is beyond impressive. He recently visited Valvoline in Kentucky and toured their engine lab (Valvoline is the only American oil company with such a facility). His visit focused on this specific product Restore & Protect and shows proof of how it works like no other oil can. I’ve personally seen it work in my V8 4runner, oil burning Scion 2.4 and countless other customer cars. Bear in mind you have to let it work and it can take 4 oil changes to fully clean your engine, but that’s exactly what you want, measured slow and steady cleaning. Valvoline exceeded my expectations. Great American 🇺🇸 company with a storied history!!!

  6. Need to give it time
98 Jeep Grand Cheroke 4.0L with 275,000 miles. I have been using Valvoline 5W30 full synthetic oil and Wix oil filters for the last 6 years (when I bought it used). All of my driving is city so I have been changing oil every 1500 to 2000 miles. I have never gone over 2000. It usually turns black on the dipstick at about 1500 miles or so. You may think that is over kill but I really need this engine to last. I am a retired ASE Certified Master Tech and I know how important good clean oil is. The thing that scared me is my engine started rattling much more once I changed to this Restore and Protect oil. I think I know my Jeep really well and it had never rattled this much. Sounds like lifter rattle or clatter. Anyway I only have 60 miles on this oil and it is already quieting down. It is almost as quiet as it was before the change to Restore and Protect oil. I re-sealed the valve cover about 3 years ago and would say this engine is as clean inside as any I have ever seen. But there is always some junk somewhere huh? I am guessing that this oil started cleaning up accumulated stuff immediately and I think it fair to say that some of the junk/dirt/sludge got in the lifters and prevented them from pumping up like they should and caused the rattle. Glad to report that the rattling is almost gone with just 60 miles.
I contacted tech support about my issue. I would give them an F-. They just told me their oil met all the specs my Jeep needed and I should replace the lifters. F-!!!@!!!
I know these engines can go close to 500k miles if taken care of. I owned an auto repair shop for 18 years and had many customers with this 4.0L engine. One had 485,000 the last time I saw it and still running great. Another one was over 490,000 when he traded it in for a new Jeep. I lost count of ones I worked on with over 250,000 and still going strong.
