It’s the best.
Since discovering this oil many, many years ago, I will confidently say that it is the best oil for my uses. I have run it in both turbo and non-turbo vehicles and it has always performed very well for the price.
I’m currently running it in a 92 svx and 09 outback xt, but I have used it in many other vehicles with good results.
It’s the perfect weight for my cars’ needs and can go for long periods between changes.
That’s just my own use for this oil, though. This is also a popular oil for diesel trucks and construction equipment, tractors, basically any heavy machinery.
I heard that they “switched the formula” at some point a few years ago, but I have not noticed any difference in oil change frequency or additional wear in the engine.
For the price, you really can beat it.

It was oil change time for the 2023 RAM 2500. You can’t go wrong with Shell Rotella T6. It is fully synthetic and will last 15,000 miles under tough conditions. The price between the T5 synthetic blend and T6 full synthetic is so close, I go straight for the T6. It meets all API certifications for both Mopar and Cummins so there will never be any warranty issues.
I change my own oil and filters to avoid paying the dealership a ridiculous amount of money. The whole process takes less than an hour and is well worth the savings. As a footnote, Mopar filters have been backordered lately and there have been some Chinese knockoffs being sold online. I have been going with Baldwin filters which are made in the USA and widely used in trucking.

This product is rated for high pressure in transmissions and clutches running in the engine oil also. It is rated JASO MA which is what is called for in a lot of Japanese bikes and cheaper than the dealer supplied oils that have the same rating.
