Customers say

Customers like the specifications, temperature, value, noise, and cleanliness of the auto oil. They mention that it’s great for motorcycle engines, diesel engines, and Subaru turbo engines. They appreciate the smoothness, quality, and cleaning power. That said, opinions are mixed on protection.

  1. Great oil that will give your engine the protection it needs
I drive modified turbo cars – a 2002 subaru impreza wrx upgraded to 270whp and a 2001 audi s4 upgraded to 400whp. I’ve run the 15w-40 Rotella T dino oil in my subaru for a couple years now – I was originally running royal purple but noticed that the car was burning it at a rate of at least a quart every thousand miles or so. Now turbo cars do burn a bit more oil than your average N/A car but this was excessive. Once I switched to the rotella, the consumption slowed to a more normal rate. When I bought my audi, I wanted to spare no expense in taking the best care of my engine since it was under more stress than a stock engine so I went for the T6 immediately. I’ve experienced very little oil consumption and I am confident this oil will adequately protect the engine. If you browse around the subaru forums you will see that there is a general consensus that subarus love rotella oil. Many of the unwashed masses like to run mobil 1 in their cars and end up frequently blowing engines (usually spun rod bearings). The problem with mobil 1 is that it shears down to a lower weight very quickly and fails to adequately protect the moving parts in the engine. This has been demonstrated time and time again by used oil analysis. Diesel guys that tow huge loads and have engines pushing out south of 1000 ft-lbs of torque trust their engines to this oil, so if that’s not a good metric then I don’t know what is. Do yourself a favor – if you drive a vehicle with a high-output engine, run this oil so it stays in one piece.

  2. and a great value when you catch it on sale
Rotella T6 is a high quality motor oil, and a great value when you catch it on sale. I live in North Dakota where winter ambient temps can drop to 40 degrees (F) below zero. I run Rotella T6 in my personal LBZ Duramax truck, and my work truck (also Duramax, but LML). I keep the block heaters plugged in during the winter most of the time, but occasionally cold starting without a block heater cannot be avoided. This motor oil is always up to the task. Rotella T6 has an extremely low (temperature) pour point, and the Duramax engines are able to build oil pressure quickly no matter how cold it is.Rotella T6 is a true 4-season performer; I run it year round. On a fresh oil change when I’m driving lots during the summer, I’ll go up to 20k mile service intervals. I wouldn’t recommend 20k intervals unless you rack up miles very quickly, and your diesel engine does not use EGR.

  3. Great alternative to the expensive Polaris oil
Used this oil from reviews instead of the Polaris oil, many rides so far and no issues

  4. Great Oil
I did not buy it off Amazon because Tractor Supply carries it cheaper. That being said this is great oil and one of the most popular for the 6.0 Powerstroke Diesel. I use it in my 2004 Excursion and it’s great. Cold starts are a non issue and the injectors are happy. As far as full synthetic oils go this is probably on the lower end of the price spectrum. Used Oil Analyses show this can be used out to 10,000 miles as well, but personally I would stick with 7,500.

  5. Great oil for any diesel truck on the road
Great oil for any diesel truck on the road! I have used this oil for the last 12 years in all my trucks, 6.0 Powerstroke, 6.6 Duramax, and my new 6.7 power stroke. If you have a 2003-2007 Ford 6.0 Powerstroke this oil will do you wonders for long term maintenance since the oil goes through the fuel injectors and can clog them up causing a stutter while accelerating and these are expensive to replace. If you do have the stutter problem you can get rid of it with a good oil like this T6 and some oil additives, but they are expensive! After 285k on my old 2006 LBZ Duramax when I took it apart for new head gaskets and ARP studs and other performance parts everything looked clean as a whistle, no blow by, and somehow still had the etching on the cylinder walls from when it was new! I had used T6 oils since 45k miles on that truck and before that it was the normal Rotella Triple T.

  6. Ol’ Reliable for my performance setups
I have used this oil in every performance car I’ve had where the extreme use spec calls for 5 40. WRX, 3 series, Abarth, more WRXs, etc I have never had a problem and it notably quieted a few engines down and burned less in between OCIs.

  7. Great oil for non-traditional purposes!
Used this between ‘official’ changes and during track days for my 2014 Subaru STi. There are a lot of opinions on doing so, but the relative consensus is that during hard use, a fully synthetic oil at 5W-40 is better at protecting forced induction engines that spec 5W-30. I was originally using Subaru’s full-synthetic 5W-30, and sent it into Blackstone labs for analysis after an engine rebuild (spun bearings at 16k miles on a stock EJ257 with all maintenance performed at local Subaru Dealership) + 1000 miles. Report came back that it was ‘shear’ for a “0W-20!” Wow! Subaru specs 5W-30 in their manual, but their own oil is practically water! From here on out, I’m planning on using the required resource conserving full-synthetic 5W-30 for ‘official’ oil changes with records (including Mobil1 Eurospec and Royal Purple), and I’ll be using this oil for any track time or rigorous use.

  8. It’s worthy for it’s high performance !I modified my review after using more than 10000 km and continuing. It’s still giving wonderful performance, harshly pick up, excellent milage, no burn out.🥰But will not be able to fill it again due to it’s price rise more than 300% 😭
