This is a hard to find motor oil. Pricey but I think when it becomes more readily available that will change. Once Wal-Mart starts carrying this product, prices will be more competitive. A 4 or 5 quart container would be nice.
Great performing oil, just wish it was a touch less expensive
Bought 2 cases to run in my 2011 BMW X5 xDrive35d.
No problems running 0W-30 year round, as I live in Minnesota. The 0 weight gives me a little extra protection when it gets cold. Wish I could have gotten the 5 weight, as I still prefer that, but 0 is just fine.
Immediately, I noticed my engine seemed (perhaps subjectively) to run a touch smoother at idle. I’m a few thousand miles into this OCI, and I’m running less frequent DPF regens when compared to the Shell Rotella T6 (the Shell isn’t BMW-LL04 approved…) I ran on the previous OCI.
Unless the pricing changes on a similarly performing BMW-LL04 oil from another brand that has the low SAPS and NOACK combination that Mobil 1 ESP has, I’ll be sticking with it.
One star down for price. Really wish it was <$9.99/quart.

Exactly what I needed for my 2008 diesel Dodge Sprinter RV. Meets the MB 229.51 spec. I still have the dealer change my oil, but I bring this product with me for them to use. Two Dodge dealers I have gone to have tried to use non-229.51 oil, which is bad for your engine and exhaust system long-term. Buy this and bring it to your dealer.
Best oil for Mercedes diesel
Since Mobil 1 discontinued 5w-40 Formula M ESP, this is the updated oil for the diesels with a particulate filter. I only use Mobil 1 on my cars and have driven 173K on my diesel so far. Great price for great oil — and delivered to my front door.
Engine is responding well to the new formula
This is the new x1 formula. Just switched to this in my 2013 TDI. WOW! engine is much more quite. Running super smooth and throttle response and MPG seam to have improved as well. I was skeptical to go with this because the new 0w instead of the old formula with either 5w or 10w. It actually runs better on this new stuff.
